කලාභූමිය නුගේගොඩ ගංගොඩවිල පාසල් මාවතේ පිහිටි නව පරිශ්‍රය ට ගෙන යාමෙන් අනතුරුව එහි අධ්‍යාපනික වැඩසටහන් උත්සවාකාරයෙන් ආරම්භ කිරීම 2020.08.29 වන සෙනසුරාදා සිදු කෙරිණි.

කලාභූමියේ හිතවතුන් වන විවිධ කලා ක්ෂේත්‍ර වල නියුතු ශිල්පීන්, දෙමාපියන් සහ වෙනත් ආරාධිතයින් විශාල සංඛ්‍යාවක් උත්සවයට සහභාගී වුහ.

උත්සව සභාව අමතමින් කලාභුමි සමාරම්භක අධ්‍යක්ෂ ආචාර්ය රෝහණ වීරසිංහ රජයේ සංගීත විද්‍යාලයේ තම සගයින් වන ලක්ෂ්මන් විජේසේකර සහ ආනන්ද වීරසිරි සමගින් මීට වසර 35කට පෙර කලාභූමිය ආරම්භ කල ආකාරය පිලිබඳ තම මතකය අවදි කලේය.

එතැන් පටන් මේ දක්වා ම කලාභූමියෙන් ශිල්ප උගෙන විවිධ ක්ෂේත්‍ර වලට පිවිසි ඇති සිසු සිසුවියන් සංඛ්‍යාව විශාල බව සඳහන් කල ඔහු කලාභූමිය සමග ඉතා සමීප ව එහි යහපැවැත්ම වෙනුවෙන් ඇපකැප වී කටයුතු කරන ආදී සිසු හවුල පිළිබඳව කෘතඥ පූර්වකව සඳහන් කලේය.

2003 වසරේ කලාභූමිය ඉන්දියාවේ ‘භාත්ඛන්ඩේ සංගීත විද්‍යා පීඨයේ’ අනුබද්ධිත විභාග මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් බවට පත් වීම අතිශයින් වැදගත් කඩ ඉමක් බව සඳහන් කල ආචාර්ය වීරසිංහ ඒ සඳහා මංජුලා සෙනෙවිරත්න වෙතින් ලැබුණු දායකත්වය කෘතඥ පූර්වකව සිහිපත් කලේය.

කලාභූමිය විසින් මෙතෙක් පවත්වාගෙන ආ උත්තර භාරතීය ශාස්ත්‍රීය සංගීතය ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් කේන්ද්‍ර කොටගත් අධ්‍යාපනික වැඩ සටහන් නව පරිශ්‍රයේ සිට තව දුරටත් පවත්වාගෙන යන අතර වර්තමාන අවශ්‍යතාවන් ට ගැලපෙන පරිදි බටහිර සංගීතය කේන්ද්‍ර කොටගත් පන්ති ද ආරම්භ කෙරෙන බැව් ඔහු සඳහන් ේය. ඒ අනුව බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය විභාග ඉලක්ක කොට ගෙන වාදනය සහ කටහඬ පුහුණුව හැදෑරීමට ද ඉදිරියේ අවස්තාව සැලසෙනු ඇත. නාට්‍ය හා රංග කලා පන්ති ද ආරම්භ කිරීමට කටයුතු සලසා තිබේ

කාර්ය බහුලත්වය නිසා තමා දිගු කලක් සංගීතය ඉගැන්වීමෙන් ඈත් වී සිටි බව සඳහන් කල ආචාර්ය රෝහණ වීරසිංහ දැන් නැවතත් කලාභූමියේ ඉගැන්වීමේ කටයුතු වල නියුතු වීමට අදහස් කරන බවට කල සඳහන රැස් ව සිටි සැම ගේ ඉමහත් සොම්නස ට හේතු විය.

පන්ති වල ට අලුතින් සිසුන් බඳවා ගැනීම සඳහා ද එදින කටයුතු සූදානම් කොට තිබුණි.

‘Kalabhumi’ ceremoniously commenced its academic programmes at its new premises at Pasal Mawatha, Gangowila, Nugegoda on Saturday 2020.08.29.

A large number of artists of various fields who are friends of Kalabhumi, parents and many other invitees were present at the occasion.

Kalabhumi founder director Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe reminisced his memories on how he together with his two friends at the National Music Institute Lakshman Wijesekara and Ananda Weerasiri founded Kalabhumi 35 years ago.
Since then and up to now, he said that a large number of pupils have learnt from Kalabhumi and entered various fields and expressed his gratitude towards the Alumni who continuously work closely with Kalabhumi towards its well-being.

He said that becoming an affiliated Examination Center of the prestigious  ‘Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeet’ of India was an important milestone for Kalabhumi and mentioned with gratitude, the role played by Manjula Seneviratne in achieving it.

He said that in addition to all the academic programmes that were hitherto conducted by kalabhumi which were mainly centered on North Indian Classical Music, new classes centered on Western Music would also commence in keeping with the modern day requirements. Instrumental classes targeting British examinations as well as voice training classes will be conducted. In addition classes will also commence on ‘Drama and Theatre’.

Everyone gathered at the occasion rejoiced when Dr. Weerasinghe mentioned that he who was kept away from teaching music due to his busy schedules would recommence teaching at Kalabhumi.

Arrangements were in place for new enrolments too on this day.
