කලාභූමියේ සමාරම්භක අධ්‍යක්ෂ ආචාර්ය රෝහණ වීරසිංහ පවත්වන ‘සරල ගායනය, කටහඬ පුහුණුව, සහ නිර්මාණාත්මක සංගීතය’ පන්තිය අද දින කලාභූමි නව පරිශ්‍රයේ දී ආරම්භ කෙරිණි.

මෙම පන්තිය සඳහා මුල් දිනයේ 35 දෙනෙක් සහභාගී වුනු අතර අලුතෙන් ලියාපදිංචි වීම සඳහා තවමත් විමසීම් ලැබෙමින් පවතී. සහභාගී වුනු කණ්ඩායම විවිධ වයස් කාණ්ඩ වලට අයත්, විවිධ ක්ෂේත්‍ර වල නියුතු සහ සංගීත විෂයට විවිධ ප්‍රමාණ වලින් අනාවරණය වුනු අයගෙන් සමන්විත විය.

ආචාර්ය වීරසිංහ මෙසේ සංගීතය ඉගැන්වීමේ නියුතු වන්නේ වසර 33 ක දිගු විරාමයකට පසුව ය. ඔහු කලාභූමියේ ආරම්භක අවධියේ එහි ඉගැන්වීමේ කටයුතු වල නියුතු වූවද සංගීත අධ්‍යක්ෂ වරයකු ලෙස ක්ෂේත්‍රය තුල ඔහුගේ කාර්යභාරය ශීඝ්‍රයෙන් පුළුල් වීමත් සමග ඇති වුනු කාර්යබහුල බව නිසා ඉගැන්වීමේ කටයුතු වලින් ඈත් වීමට ඔහුට සිදු විය. එම හේතුවම නිසා ඊට ආසන්න කාලයක ඔහු පාසල් ගුරු සේවයෙන් ද ඉවත් විය. ඉන් පසු කලාභූමි සිසු දරු දැරියන් හට ඔහුගෙන් ගුරුහරුකම් ලැබුනේ කලාභූමියේ ප්‍රසංග වල පුහුණු කිරීම් වලදී පමණි.

මෙම සංගීත පන්තිය සෑම අඟහරුවාදා දිනකම ප.ව. 6.00 සිට ප.ව. 8.30 දක්වා පැවැත්වේ.

The ‘Light Singing, Voice Training and Creative Music’ class conducted by Kalabhumi founder director Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe commenced today at the new premises of Kalabhumi.

35 students attended the class on the first day and inquiries for new registrations are still being received. The first group comprised people of different age groups, occupied in varied fields, and having different levels of exposure to the subject of music.

Dr. Weerasinghe returns to his teaching role after a long lapse of 33 years. Although he took part in teaching at Kalabhumi during the time of its inception, the workload created by the rapid growth of his role as a music director in the field, he was compelled to distance himself from teaching activities. Around the same time and for the same reason, he bid goodbye to his career as a schoolteacher as well.  Thereafter the students of Kalabhumi got the opportunity to learn from him only during rehearsals of Kalabhumi concerts.

This class is conducted every Tuesday from 6.00 PM to 8.30 PM.
