Mrs. Manjula Seneviratne learnt music under Visharad Nanda Malinee and Dr. Amara Ranathunge. She obtained her degree of Visharad in North Indian Classical Music from the Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeit, Lucknow, India. She continued her studies under the distinguished guidance of Shastrapathi Visharad B. Victor Perera and obtained the degree of Sangeet Nipun. She also earned the degree of 'Master of Arts' in Cultural Studies from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Mrs. Seneviratne is a rated classical vocalist at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and has regularly performed in its classical programmes as well as in those aired by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Independent Television Network.

She has also performed regularly at recitals organized by the Indian Cultural Centre. She has wide experience as a resource person for over 30 years, having taught music at Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo and having been a visiting lecturer at the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Pali Campus of the University of Colombo and at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.  She is also a creative composer and has composed mostly for her students. She composed the music scores and directed  music for the teledramas “Kadathurawa”, “Kaluwara Adawiya”, “Yaddehi Gedara” and “Yauwananthaya”.

Ever since joining “Kalabhumi” as a resource person in 1986, she has been coaching students for the examinations of Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeit, Lucknow. She was instrumental in making “Kalabhumi” an affiliated centre of the Bhatkhande Vidyapeit and was appointed as the center's “Superintendent of Examinations”.

In recognition of her contributions in the field of North Indian Classical music in Sri Lanka Mrs. Seneviratne was awarded the "Lionel Edirisinghe Memorial Award" at the State Music Awards 2011. She was appointed a director of "Kalabhumi" in 2020.
